Commercial concrete patio design is an often overlooked area of innovation and beauty. While not all of the large businesses located in Kansas City have patio areas for employees or clients, many, especially hotels, do. Concrete patios are an essential area for many area hotels, as it gives the guests a place to settle in for quiet during their stay. Often, the landscaping works around the concrete patio area, and is usually practically maintenance free, which means it will not require a great deal of continual expense. Many colleges and hospitals are also adding patio areas for visitors as well.
A less expensive way to dress up your outdoor patio for the winter months is with grapevine. You can buy it at your local florist or art supply store. Maintenance-free, grapevine can be threaded through any lattice work you might have outside or you can use white LED lights and intertwine them with the grapevines. Add sprigs of holly, juniper or boxwood to make your patio even more festive!
There are a number of ways you can remodel or transform a concrete pad. Some factors you need to consider include your budget, the condition of the existing concrete, and how much disruption you're willing to tolerate. If the concrete is in excellent condition, for example, then you may want to simply stain the surface, or perhaps give it a textured coating. These options are quickly and easily performed by a specialized contractor.
Recently, a ceramic version of the interlocking tile design has been developed, so you have even more options for cheering up your patio. You can intermingle the ceramic tiles with wooden ones, to create interesting designs. For example, you might like to have ceramic tiles underneath your table and chairs, with a wood surround. Add a few plants in pots, and your boring old concrete patio will be totally transformed.
The second decision, in my opinion, is whether you want to have the patio heater just in one place and then not worry about it for years and years or have the versatility to move it where the heat is needed for any particular occasion. There are basically 3 types of patio heaters to consider. One uses propane which means from time to time you will need to fill the tank. The one thing to consider with a propane powered patio heater is the time when the party is just starting to liven up and you run out of propane in the tank. Bummer, now you have to either bring the party indoors (which there might not be enough room), don jackets (maybe some didn’t bring any) or the party breaks up because some are getting chilly and start toward home. I am not trying to talk you out of a propane patio heater, just want you to be aware of all of the possibilities if making this choice.
