Patio door window treatments can be a challenge, so here are a few expert suggestions. The traditional choice would be vertical blinds or curtains on a traverse rod, which emphasize the dramatic dimensions of your patio door while providing complete privacy and light control. Aluminum, vinyl or cloth vertical blinds come in any color'matching them to standard horizontal blinds on your other windows is a good idea'and can provide a chic, modern accent for any room. Vertical blinds also come in faux wood, which is a good match with wood or composite blinds. Another interesting option you might want to consider are ceiling mount verticals, which would eliminate a potentially annoying gap between the ceiling and the door frame.
Concrete Patio Design - Transforming Kansas City! Much like anything else, a concrete patio design can be as individual and unique as the contents of a home. Thanks to the advent of inexpensive and highly adaptable concrete applications, a patio can evolve in almost any way the homeowner wishes. Kansas City is an area of the Midwest where there are very hot summers followed by very cold and wet winters. This means that concrete may be the best choice for any patio, as it is sturdy, easy to clean and practically impervious to the elements. Additionally, it is easy to add effects or to use in tight spaces.
One of the more expensive things you can do is add a small outdoor fireplace to your patio. Do some comparison-shopping to see what you can get for what price: outdoor fireplaces can be huge or they can be small and portable. Adding a fireplace to your patio will encourage family and guests to hang out outside a little bit longer. Picture it now: the air outside is cold, but you and your family and friends are all bundled up and roasting marshmallows by the fireside. Yum! What a fun way to spend a cold winter's night!
At last, you can start laying pavers in place. When all have been placed, the cutting in process may be started if needed, using a cutoff saw. Paver edge restraint and soldier course should be added to prevent spreading and a layer of joint sand employed, which is to be swept into the cracks. Polymeric sand is suggested, which will harden after it has been added. Although not mandatory, this is a good idea to curtail insects \"moving\" the joint sand and week growth in the cracks in the patio.
Finally, comes the best (or worse) part of this decision. Style and quality. You only get what you pay for, I don’t care what that sales person says. Styles are abundant and can be even a central point for your patio, but you will pay a little more for that. Quality to me is king. Why purchase something I am going to need to replace soon and then have to pay even more for. I would rather put off getting one for a time to have the money needed to get the right one, then pay now and later and possibly even not have enough power to provide the heat I am looking for anyway.
